Note as of 9/12/22: Unfortunately, due to unavoidable circumstances, the symposium has to be postponed. Our new date for the event is February 24, 2023. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and hope you and your students are able to attend the symposium in February. We will keep you posted with additional details regarding the event soon.

The Wistar Institute Trainee Association invites undergraduate students (that have recently completed a summer research project in biology), graduate students and postdocs to submit abstracts for the Wistar Trainee Research Symposium on September 23, 2022. The symposium is in-person only at The Wistar Institute at 3601 Spruce Street. Registration is required to attend.

Please submit your abstract (approx. 150-200 words) to education@wistar.org and note the presenter name and whether they are an undergraduate student, graduate student or postdoc by Friday, September 9th.

The symposium is geared for academic trainees who wish to gain experience speaking at a conference-style event. Trainees who wish to present a talk are highly encouraged to submit an abstract on their research topic.

Abstracts will be selected for:

Trainee Talks:
All levels of trainees are highly encouraged to submit abstracts for talks! This event is hosted by trainees for trainees to gain presentation experience to a wider audience. Trainees should be prepared to give a 10-12 minute talk, with time for questions at the end. Trainees will be notified if they have been selected to give a talk no later than September 15th. Trainees who’s abstracts are accepted for a talk will be reimbursed for registration.

Poster Session:
For the poster session, there will be poster prizes. Undergraduate students that have recently completed a summer research project in biology are encouraged to present a poster! We will have separate poster prizes based on trainee level (undergraduate, graduate, postdoc).

Additional information regarding presenters and titles will be updated on the registration site. Please see the attached flyer for more event details and registration site.
